Theodore Papazoglou, Ph.D.,

Head of Unit, Support to the European Research Council Scientific Council, ERC Executive Agency

Theodore G. Papazoglou graduated with honors from the Physics Department of the University of Crete, Greece in 1985 and followed his graduate studies at the University of Southern California (PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 1990). After his post-doctoral training at the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre, he worked as independent researcher at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Lasers of FO.R.T.H (awarded a tenured position in 1999) in Greece. During the same period he served as technical manager of the UV Laser European Facility operating at FO.R.T.H.
He moved to the European Commission (DG Research) in 2001 and worked as a scientific officer until 2006 (Marie Curie Fellowships Programme). In 2006-2007 he was involved in the preparatory work for the creation of the European Research Council (ERC) and, since then, has supported the ERC Scientific Council in the establishment of its strategy. Since the beginning of 2009, he is working in the ERC Executive Agency and at the end of 2010 he was appointed Head of Unit for the support of the Scientific Council.
