Prof Nithaya Chetty was a two time Fulbright Fellow in the USA (1985 and 2004), and recipient of the NRF President's Award (1997). He is a theoretical and computational solid state physicist at the University of Pretoria, and has been seconded to the NRF as Group Executive for Astronomy.
