Project and Coordination Officer at DG Energy, European Commission

Mr. Georg Houben is Project and Coordination Officer at the EU Commission’s Directorate General for Energy (DG Energy) since 2010, where he is responsible for the Smart Cities and the Smart Cities Stakeholder Platform. He is a graduate in electro-technical engineering from the University of Aachen (RWTH) Germay. From 2004 – 2010 he worked as Radiation Protection Officer at the JRC Institute for Transuranium Elements in Karlsruhe, Germany, being responsible for dosimetry and radiation protection medical measures. Before that, Georg Houben was at Mitsubishi Electric, Germany, responsible for Motion and Servo Technologies and Start-Up as High Level Support and Project Engineer (Product Specialist and Trainer). He also worked as Project Engineer at Rockwell Automation, Krefeld, Germany, where his responsibilities included worldwide start-ups of large scale automation projects, project design and programming.
