Kris Loveniers graduated in Electromechanical Engineering in 2000 at the KU Leuven (BE), where he also obtained a post-graduate master in Biomedical Engineering in 2002. After working for 2 years as a research assistant in the department of physiotherapy at KU Leuven, he joined medical products company Materialise as an engineer. In October 2003 he moved to the Netherlands to work at the European Patent Office (EPO).  He deals with patents for diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical devices and was involved with the new classification system (CPC) of therapeutic devices.  He gives both in-house training courses and teaches in the European Patent Academy. In 2008 he also obtained a master in Political Sciences at Leiden University (NL).
