Eskil Waage

EPO International Legal Affairs

Eskil Waage is a Lawyer in the European Patent Office’s Directorate for International Legal Affairs (DG5) in Munich. He has been closely involved in the Union’s patent reform over the last years. After graduating in law and receiving his cand. jur. at Copenhagen University in 1995, Mr. Waage completed his doctorate in law at the Université de Strasbourg in 1998. Mr. Waage started his career as staff lawyer at the EPO in the same year. In 2008 he was seconded as expert to the European Commission's Directorate General for the Internal Market in Brussels, where he worked with Margot Froehlinger on the Union's patent reform.

Mr. Waage’s work mainly focuses on the EPO's contribution to the UPP-UPC project (2008-to date). Moreover, he has been involved in the preparatory work for the revision of the EPC (1998-2002), the draft European Patent Litigation Agreement (2003-2005) and the actions in favour of the ratification of the London Agreement (2006-2008).
