Rick Johnson works at the intersection of the life sciences, Big Data, synthetic biology, healthy aging, neuroscience, and emerging platform technologies with collaborative research, impact capital investing and entrepreneurship, knowledge-based capital, public-private partnerships, and new innovation models for addressing global challenges. Rick is a member of the Board on Life Sciences at the National Academy of Sciences, Chairs the OECD/BIAC Technology Committee, and serves as the Chairman or member of university councils at Brown, MIT, Stanford, and Santa Clara. Johnson is the CEO of Global Helix LLC, a thought leadership and strategy consulting firm that focuses on enabling basic research and entrepreneurship, rethinking S&T policymaking, linking research to innovation and value creation, and shaping emerging policy issues. Rick retired as Senior Partner at Arnold & Porter LLP, where he focused on innovative legal approaches for enabling basic research, innovation, and international technology. In addition to receiving his Juris Doctor degree from the Yale Law School where he was Editor of the Yale Law Journal, he received his M.S. from MIT where he was a National Science Foundation National Fellow, and his undergraduate degree with highest honors from Brown.
