Lourdes Verdes-Montenegro

Lourdes Verdes-Montenegro is staff scientist at the Instituto de Astrofisica de Andalucia (IAA). Her research has been always linked to observational radio astronomy, and currently is PI of the international collaboration AMIGA (Analysis of the interstellar Medium of Isolated GAlaxies), funded under project "AMIGA4GAS: AMIGA for ALMA, GTC and SKA pathfinders" by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. The AMIGA project (http://amiga.iaa.es) is investing a large effort in e-science developments for radio astronomy and is member of the experts committee in the applications area of the Spanish e-science network, the Spanish Committees for Radio Astronomical Infrastructures and for ESO, Apertif SAC, and Spanish representative in the users committee of ESO. Currently Lourdes is the PI of the feasibility study of the Spanish industrial participation in SKA (VIA-SKA) funded by the same ministry. As part of this, the technological expertise of Spain in the area of renewable energies has been identified as valuable for the SKA Power WP.  Her group at IAA is one of the partners in the BIOSTIRLING project, recently selected by the European Commission.
