Professor Intisar  Soghayroun, professor of Archaeology, University of Khartoum, Sudan
Professor Intisar Soghayroun, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research from 2019 to October 2021. She is a professor of Archaeology at the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts, University of Khartoum.
 
Professor Soghayroun has particular interest in theoretical archaeology, Islamic civilization, Archaeology, heritage management and Museums studies, Ancient technologies, Theatrical Archaeology, Ethno-archaeology and Gender Archaeology. She was a research fellow at  Bergen University, Norway in 2008 and  ST, John’s college / Cambridge University, the UK, in 2000. She held a number of administrative positions at the University of Khartoum, such as Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Khartoum and Dean, Deanship for Scientific Research, University of Khartoum. She is a member of national, regional and international associations of Archaeologists. She also worked as a consultant for a number of organisations such as Ethiopia-Sudan Power System Interconnection, Red Sea Power Plant, SMEC International  PTY LTD and Consultancy Service for lake Nasser/Nubia Watershed. Member of advisory board of 5S organization and advisory board of MAEASaM, mapping Africa's endangered archaeological sites and monuments project. 
She is a very active archaeologist who presented papers in about 33 conferences worldwide and received several research grants. She has published several articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
 
She obtained her PhD in 2001 from University: -University of Khartoum – Sudan, an MA in 1987 from the  American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt, and BA in 1982 from the University of Khartoum, Sudan.
